Creating what could be called a totally timeless and trans-seasonal display, Shantanu and Nikhil’s collection inspired by their mythical, mystical, muse called Vanessa, was presented by Nokia on Day 4 of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014. Now the line may be called “The Shadows Within”. But for me, it was more romantic than the “Dark Love” of Nari. Reflecting the architecture of the pre-independence era, the collection created a beautiful, dusty-rose tinted fashion journey. There was grandeur in every entry, including the rayon blends and poly jerseys. With everything from laser cut dresses and sari gowns for women to looped hem kurtas and sherwanis for men, the entire collection evoked an Indo-western appeal. Deep flaming reds and chocolate browns impressed in gowns and gathered peplums. Dusty rose made rosy appearances in everything from kurtas to lehenga/cholis and gowns, with delicate lace embellishments.
