Nature is best left in its originality. Fashioning the overpowering influence of the Himalayas into 39 beautiful creations, designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil mirror the pure mountain waters into their estive couture line. Colours and drapes play an integral role in this visual recreation. It requires true passion to work hues like grey, white and black into effortless couture statements for the season. While the crucial layering has been kept contemporary, creative construction has been delivered through fabric cut-outs and headgears. The fluidity of the Himalayan waters has been captured in new-age lehengas, anarkalis and draped saree-gowns. Shantanu & Nikhil opened their show with subtlety reflected on a gown with antique gold work, which was soon overpowered by an asymmetric jacket over ruffled skirt, halter saree-gown, fishtail net gown and a black draped jersey choli over lehenga. The printed corset teamed with pre-stitched saree can be defined as best suited for cocktail and bridal wear. Menswear was kept sharp and detailed in the form of side-draped kurtas, bandhgalas shewanis, and kurtas with bundies. Mohawk-inspired accessories being the most popular trend of the year were used for introducing a hint of royalty to the otherwise delicate line. The collection combines familiarity with natures to recreate Himalayan euphoria through contemporary couture.
