Rohit Bal at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week After witnessing Rohit Bal’s spring summer 2015 runway presentation at Quli Khan’s tomb with Qutub Minar as the backdrop, we had to agree that grand statements and the art that inspire them return in new ways every year. The collection titled, Gulbagh showcased at the finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week brought intense drama to the runway through exquisite detailing and luxurious treatment of fabrics. The show that started off in subtle white and gold combinations to live sufi music and the voice of Shubha Mudgal, build up gradually to a grand showcase of ornate ensembles. Fabrics like mulmul, silk and velvet were used for creating peplum cholis, lehengas, floor-lengths and anarkalis. Capturing the essence of spring, Rohit ensured featuring floral prints and embroidery in both men’s wear and women’s wear. Surface detailing was extremely dramatic and regal. Rohit’s beautiful representation of the Mughal gardens of Kashmir to do complete justice to a historical backdrop like the Qutub Minar. “…It is a perfect platform for me to show uninhibited creativity, and express myself through a collection that transcends all seasons and reflects my sense of aesthetics without any constraints,” said Rohit describing his collection and the venue. When a show projects artistry of this level, it leaves you mesmerized.
